Unit 1 Investigation and experimentation

In unit 1 we have learned how to make a perfect experiment. We learnd this by making experiments to learn how to make good proceadures. I good proceadure includes writing a good hypothesis, collecting data, analysing data, graphing data, and writing a good conclusion. We learned this by doing experiments like, the three whole bottle, shoe size vs hieght, shooting the car with a rubber band, and testing the magnets strengths.

8th grade science standards

Scientific progress is made by asking meaningful questions and conducting careful investigations. As a basis for understanding this concept and addressing the content in the other three strands, students should develop their own questions and perform investigations. Students will:

  1. Plan and conduct a scientific investigation to test a hypothesis.
  2. Evaluate the accuracy and reproducibility of data.
  3. Distinguish between variable and controlled parameters in a test.
  4. Construct appropriate graphs from data and develop quantitative statements about the relationships between variables.
